How to do it
Stand facing each other with the receiver's arms around the giver's neck and the giver's hands at the receiver's hips.
The giver bends the knees slightly and scoops both hands under the receiver's thighs.
The receiver hops or steps up and wraps both legs around the giver's waist, crossing the ankles behind the giver's back.
The giver straightens up and stands with feet wide, while the receiver pulls in with arms and legs to set the depth.
Rock together in small movements, then the receiver unhooks and slides down before anyone's muscles give out.
Tips
- Put the receiver's back against a wall if you can; it takes half the weight off the giver.
- A big height or weight difference makes this much harder, so test the lift without any other activity first.
- The receiver does a lot of the work through the legs and arms, which makes it a team effort, not just the giver's.
